U15 boys Div 5 Hurling League
GWG made the trip to St Annes Park for our league match v @rahenygaa, the last before the summer break.
With the summer holidays in full swing we were missing a lot of players but 3 lads from the u13 squad stepped up to the plate and didn't look a bit out of place.
We travelled with 16 players with Eoin Gleeson, Ollie McCormack and Daniel Wallace stepping up from the younger age group.
We played against a strong wind in the first half, in what was a low scoring match, with defences on top form.
It was well into the first half, with the scores at 2 points apiece, the Westmanstown lads began to take control, with Colm Murphy striking the ball to the back of the net. Henry Todd was having a stormer at half back with nothing getting past him, the ever dependable Luke Birmingham and Conor Teehan in the full back line cleared ball after ball as we were against the wind in the first half. Daniel White and David Nolan swapped position between corner back and half back and took control of their side of the pitch. Goalkeeper Alex O Neill, who was working on speeding up his puck outs, did a great job of finding his man and showed a great strong hand when the ball did get into him.
The second half was more about the forwards, with Charlie Mooney and Sean Lynch taking over at midfield, the flow of ball into the forwards was constant.
Jack Sheridan, in a new position at centre forward, won a lot of ball and even managed to find the back of the net. Sean Solan worked tirelessly at half forward and the big man up front, Eoin Murphy, caused a lot of damage doing most of the scoring for the away side.
A great way to sign off for the summer break with a big away win. Well done lads.
FT Score: GWG 4-5 Raheny 0-3
