The death has occurred of Patrick Joseph (P.J.) Murphy

The death occurred, peacefully on 11th February 2023, at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, of Patrick Joseph Murphy, better known as P.J., Ballyglass, Claremorris, Co. Mayo.
Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Nora (née Reilly), his sisters Bridie Monaghan and Madie McGarry. He will be sadly missed by his loving partner Geraldine, his brother Jim (Dublin and Ballyglass), his nieces Karen Serantes, Noreen White, Sinead McGarry, Clare Murphy, Deirdre Murphy, Maria McGrath, Sharon Monaghan and his nephews Seamus Murphy and Michael Monaghan, his sister-in-law Teresa, cousins, relatives at home and abroad, his work colleagues and many friends.
P.J. was a psychiatric nurse in St. Mary’s Hospital, Castlebar and later in the community. He was the current chairman of the Mayo Mental Health Association and served previously as chairman of the Mental Health Association of Ireland.
May he rest in peace.
P.J. will repose in the Ballyglass Community Centre on Tuesday, 14th February 2023, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. His funeral will arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Carnacon, on Wednesday for Funeral Mass at 11.00am. Afterwards P.J. will be laid to rest in Burriscarra Cemetery.
