U16 Boys A Championship Shield hurling Semi Final at Porterstown Park on 5th November 2022.
Our boys knew we were up against it today as Castleknock were the Division 1 league winners at u16 earlier in the year . The game started with great intensity but Castleknock clever movement in the full forward line was causing WMT problems. This resulted in castleknock getting goals in the first half which resulted in us falling behind even though we had an equal amount of the play .
Half Time:- Castleknock 3-9 WMT 0-6 .
WMT gave their best performance of the season in the second half and physically dominated Castleknock and won the second half comfortably but couldn’t get the goal to really put the match in the melting pot . Castleknock held on for the win and were glad that there wasn’t another 10 minutes in the match.
Final score Castleknock 4-13 WMT 0-18.
This was a wonderful team performance with all the boys being tigers in the tackle which Philip Mitten epitomised especially in the first half . This was WMT best performance in the A Championship and shows the boys are beginning to adapt to this level . We would also like to thank Eoin O Reilly who has supported us in training recently and his knowledge for the game has helped out our squad to become stronger players. Just a year ago this Castleknock team bet us 2-25 to 0-10 which shows the improvement the boys are making year on year. Keep practicing over the winter boys you did yourself, your coaches and club very proud today. WMT Abu .
