Team: U16 Boys Div. 2 Hurling league match v Ballinteer St Johns.
Venue: Westmantown
Date: Saturday 14th May 2022
On a beautiful summer's day the u16 boys hurling team entertained Ballinteer St. Johns.
Westmanstown got off to a flyer to establish an early lead with a well taken goal by Senan Bolger . However St Johns came back strong and led 2-8 to 1-8 at halftime . The Gaels found another gear in the second half and and all in attendance were treated to a magnificent hurling game by both teams. Westmanstown threatened to pull away on several occasions but on each occasion St Johns got a goal to reduce the margin and the teams were level on a number of occasions. Westmanstown eventually prevailed on a score of WMT 5-16 to St Johns 4-15 .
An excellent hurling match that thrilled all the supporters. Great performance by all the team with exceptional performance s by Sam Curran and Senan Bolger in the forwards and Thomas Quigley and Ivar Carthy in the defence.
I would encourage all young players in the club to come watch these u16 boys who continue to do the club proud by displaying great skills and heart every time they put on the Westmanstown jersey .
They are currently in joint 2nd position in Div 2 after five rounds of the league having only lost just once so far to Plunketts by a last second goal . The boys would appreciate all the support that they can get.
Gaels Abú!
