U13 boys played their first ever competitive league match today in Westmanstown and what a game it turned out to be. The opposition was provided by Fingal Ravens and it was an even close enthralling match from start to finish. It went point for point from the very start with both teams going at it hammer and thongs. After a brilliant first half Ravens held a one point lead 1-5 to 1-4. The second half started as the first half ended but a second goal for Ravens put a bit of daylight between the teams for the first time. The response from the Gaels lads was something to behold. The determination and never say die attitude was a joy to behold. Once Gaels got the second goal from captain fantastic Charlie Mooney to draw the game level there was only going to be one winner. Two points from frees late in the game from that man Mooney decided the game. It was a thoroughly enjoyable game from start to finish.
WMT 2-9
