Today marked the return to game time for the U9 Girls with their first Camogie match against Castleknock at home in Westmanstown.
We knew it would be a hard fought match when the Castleknock team arrived and enquired if Hawkeye was operational in the grounds.
We had 23 girls today our biggest fielding to date. It was the girls first game in some 9 months and it was fantastic to watch. The girls lined out against a tough opposition who had some extra game time under their belt.
The girls played 2 games each and every one had equal game time and gave their all to their performance and their team. There were great skills on display in the ground hurling first half and a good few bonus points were secured for the air hurling in the 2nd half in both games. Tackling was fierce and tough with plenty of freeze spray being used!. There was some super goal keeping when the Gaels were under pressure.
There were plenty of learnings for players and coaches so it’s onwards and upwards as we move forward.
Lastly a big shout out to the Westmanstown referees Kellie and Maeve who did a great job on the day and kept the game free flowing and enjoyable for the girls.
Well done to all involved.
