Westmanstown Gaels 4-4 Fingallians 2-3
On an extremely warm day in Westmanstown the u13 Div 8 team played their first competitive match in over a year and came away with a richly deserved victory over a good Fingallians side.
The Girls started the game in impressive form and despite numerous opportunities were not able to capitalise on their dominant possession. The failure to take the chances were punished when Fingallians scored 1-1 without reply against the run of play. Fingallians tagged on another goal and point for only a point in reply but the girls battled hard for every ball and eventually got their reward to go in at half time only a goal down following a goal and a point from Aoibhinn Carolan and a point from Sophie Halpin.
With Sarah Curtis, Brooke Robertson and Aoibhinn Carolan controlling the middle third, Sadie Plumber stopping anything coming through the backs and with a magnificent goalkeeping performance from Grace O'Brien the Gaels eventually got their reward with a dominant display in the second half.
Two goals from Rose Munnelly, a goal and a point from Holly Fagan and a point from Isabell Fitzgerald with only a point registered against ensured that the Gaels ran out winners in a well deserved performance.
Well done to all...
