Our newly merged U12 boys played their first matches of the year this afternoon against a very good group from St. Pats (Palmerstown). Though supposedly streamed, it was not evident to the spectators in the balmy summer atmosphere, such was the display of skills, determination, & teamwork, by both teams.
To get back into match practice, 25 minutes of football, followed by 25 minutes of hurling, were played. The standard of play was fantastic on both pitches. It was a warm day, but the boys never stopped working hard for each other, evidenced by the sweaty heads on them all, as they guzzled down bottles of water. Westmanstown came out on top on both pitches in both codes, so well done everybody...great skills, great determination & intensity, and a great attitude by all, from start to finish! Some fantastic teamwork & interplay between the boys saw great scores aplenty.
It was just so wonderful to be back playing games, and the boys really rose to the occasion. Looking forward to another challenge match against St Peregrines next Thursday before the big kick off the Grading Matches next Saturday.
