The U13 girls made the trip to Swords on Saturday to face Fingallians needing a victory to ensure their place in the semi final of the Championship. After winning the coin toss the Gaels had a strong wind at their backs for the first half and the girls capitalised on this by making the advantage count by taking their chances. As a result the half time score was 4-4 to 0-0, At half time the coaches drilled into the girls that the job was only half done and that a resilient performance would be required for the second half. The onslaught from our opponents started immediately from the whistle but the girls followed their instructions and defended with great aplomb. At times there were two banks of four defending everything that was thrown and kicked at them with midfield dropping back as well. The discipline in the tackles was fantastic with very few frees being given away. As our opponents tired we took the opportunity to counter attack and managed to add to our scoring. The girls can be very proud of such a great performance. Final score 5-6 to 1-5.
