At the start of the day, with the final round of games in the U15 Div 5 Hurling league, 3 teams sat equal on 10 points apiece. Our top of the table clash with Kilmacud Crokes B was a ‘do or die’ scenario and even then, we had to wait and wonder for news of the Na Fianna v O’Dwyer’s game result.
By the end of the day, our boys stand alone on the top of the table, thanks to an 8 point win over Crokes, and a draw in the other game.
The win was a just reward for the attitude and resilience displayed, with some dogged & stubborn defending, matched with an array of points from all across the pitch. Six different players on the scoreboard is only part of the story, the rest being the work rate of the others to create these opportunities. The hooking, blocking and general attitude was vital to this success today, and all year.
The 2024 scorecard reads well….
• Played 12, Won 11, Lost 1
• Div 6 Hurling Feile winners
• Div 5 League winners (upon promotion this year)
• Secured promotion to Div 4 for 2025.
The boys have matured greatly during the year and can be very proud of their achievements, and I’m sure all in the club are equally proud. Great ambassadors on the pitch for the clubs and their families. Congratulations to all involved.
Gaels Abú!
