Our amalgamated minor football team comprising of Garda Westmanstown Gaels boys and St Peregrines played their final league match at a sunny St Peregrines pitch in Blakestown yesterday . Both teams had won 10 out of 10 matches and the league came down to this match. Westmanstown started well with early goal to set them up, and they went on to establish a 1-7 to 0-6 halftime lead . Our lads took a firm grip of the game in the third quarter and ran out winners with a final scoreline of 3-12 to 0-9. A solid defense kept our goalie safe, as they have all season, with the team conceding only one goal their entire league campaign. It was great for our boys to finally win some silverware having represented the club in B championship and Division 3 in football over the years and that experience showed throughout this match .
We are now looking forward to the championship with this exciting team, and win a league win under their belt they couldn't be off to a better start! Well done to the players, management and parents for their commitment all season!
Gaels abu!
