Fund raising update   14/01/2020

Dear members,

Fundraising is a very important issue within each GAA club and we are no di erent. For the coming year I have been elected as ‘Commercial O cer’ for Garda Westmanstown Gaels.

Our club nances are in a healthy position, where our main source of income is derived from membership payments. These, however, are not adequate to cover all of the costs associated with running any club, let alone a club such as ours (that is growing). This is particularly relevant in our case where we are striving to put in place the appropriate and satisfactory facilities to support all of our players.

We are very grateful to our club members, and sponsors, for their continued support - your assistance is invaluable.

Our fundraising options are designed to support the club‘s nancing in a range of ways such as personal donations (particularly from Club Members) and commercial funds towards various items i.e. Section Sponsorship, hoardings, event sponsorship, etc.

For the coming year we are looking to increase all areas of fundraising. I will be in contact with all members of the club in this regard and would gladly welcome any ideas or suggestions you might have.

This year we are endeavouring to build a ‘Ball Wall’ for the club. This is a project that requires signi cant funding (€70k) and while some club funds are available, the majority of the costs will have to be raised. In this context, I am appealing to all members to help us with this undertaking.

As part of the ‘Ball Wall’ project; we are launching a ‘Buy A Brick’ drive with prices ranging from €50 - €250 - this option is designed to facilitate personal contributions from club members. This option will be available online through our website. To note: All funds are recorded in our annual accounts by our Treasurer and appropriate tax acknowledgements can be provided as required.

In addition we are looking for your support with the other main fundraising initiatives;

1. Sponsorship: Sponsor packages exist for any company looking to avail of this super way of supporting the club and advertising their business.

2. Pitch Side advertising: this is an area where we have large availability. Do you know any business or company that could support us?

3. Golf Classic: this year’s event takes place on Friday, 15th May in Westmanstown Golf Club – Teams cost €300 / Tee Box €100. We are very grateful to Ken Murray and ‘Financial Solutions’ and ‘I Need a Mortgage’ for their continued support of our Golf Classic.
